Strategies to close Europe’s last-mile broadband divide
This session examines strategies to bridge the connectivity gap for the remaining 10% of European households still lacking high-speed broadband access. Aimed at network infrastructure professionals and public sector stakeholders, this report explores the economic and technical constraints of deploying fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) in rural and low-density areas, while assessing viable alternatives such as Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.
Drawing on national case studies, the discussion highlights hybrid deployment models, cost-efficiency trade-offs, and policy frameworks that balance universal broadband objectives with sustainable investment strategies.
